What kinds of refrigerants are often used in freezer?

The freezer is a kind of cooling equipment that can provide constant temperature, constant flow and constant pressure. Its working principle is that the refrigerant is first cooled at the evaporator to obtain the cooling capacity, and then is pumped to various places where the cooling capacity is needed. After absorbing the heat, it returns to the evaporator and is cooled again, so that the cycle is repeated to achieve the purpose of continuous cooling. So, what are the commonly used refrigerant refrigerants?

1. Water

Advantages: It has large specific heat, low density, low corrosion to refrigerators and pipelines, non-flammable, non-explosive, non-toxic, good chemical stability, and low price.

Disadvantages: high freezing point, can only be used in refrigeration systems above 0 ℃.

Scope of application: Suitable for occasions where the refrigeration temperature is above 0 ℃.

2. Salt water

Advantages: It is supported by salt dissolved in water, which can lower the freezing point temperature and make the cooling range larger. The brines commonly used as refrigerants are sodium chloride aqueous solution and calcium chloride aqueous solution.

Disadvantages: Corrosive to refrigerators and pipes.

Scope of application: It can be used for salt water ice machine and indirect cooling refrigeration device, or for cooling bagged food.

3. Ethylene glycol and propylene glycol

Advantages: low freezing point, stable properties, miscible with water, wide temperature range, cheap price, large heat capacity.

Disadvantages: The viscosity of the solution rises very quickly at low temperatures and is corrosive.

Scope of application: Usually their aqueous solution is used as the coolant, the applicable temperature range is 0 ~ -50 ℃.

4. Dichloromethane and trichloroethylene

Advantages: Usually use their liquid as a refrigerant, the freezing point is low.

Disadvantages: high volatility, low boiling point, large loss, and corrosiveness.

Scope of application: usually use their liquid as a coolant, the applicable temperature range is -50 ~ -100 ℃.

5. Glacial refrigerant

Advantages: low volatility, low viscosity, large specific heat, non-toxic, non-corrosive, safe and environmentally friendly.

Scope of application: suitable for food freezing and refrigeration industry.

In addition to the above commonly used refrigerants, aqueous solutions such as methanol, ethanol, and glycerin can also be used as refrigerants, generally depending on the use of the customer's factory. Taken together, the advantage of using a refrigerant is that the refrigeration system of the freezer can be concentrated in a smaller range, improving the refrigeration efficiency, and at the same time transferring the cooling capacity to a distant place.

The above mentioned are all kinds of refrigerants and specific advantages and disadvantages that we often take when using the freezer, which is very comprehensive.
